 Historical Crisis (Advanced)

Picture

What Is It?

Crisis is a very different style of committee to the traditional bodies represented in Model United Nations. Delegates take on the role of a person in a smaller committee, usually between 5 and 20 people. They have  a far less formal structure and are presided over by a single chair. Rather than working towards a Resolution, Crisis encourages delegates to respond to directives given to them from the Crisis Directors. This level of participation makes a highly dynamic committee where every person's actions affect the final outcome of the simulation and challenges are both frequent and difficult to overcome.

Jack Lovejoy

Hi, my name is Jack Lovejoy and I will be your Crisis Director for ReadiMUN 2019! I am a second year International Relations student at the University of Exeter, returning for my fourth consecutive ReadiMUN, and my third time directing the crisis.
In my limited time not spent on my degree or doing Model UN, I like to read fantasy novels and travel to historic landmarks and museums. I also seems to have an aim of starting, but never finishing, as many languages as possible, having tried to learn French, German and Hebrew (and failed miserably).
I hope to see you in my crisis as I aim to make it as enjoyable and historically accurate as possible.

Jack Cross

Hi, my name is Jack Cross and I will be your Crisis Director for ReadiMUN 2019! I’ve just finished my degree at the University of East Anglia, studying history, with a focus on diplomacy in the long nineteenth century. However, I’m not quite ready to say goodbye to Model UN just yet.
I’ve been attending conferences for the past three years and have had the opportunity to be involved in numerous historical crises, both as a chair and director. Whether its fighting in the English Civil War, defending Poland from those evil Bolsheviks or leading Christendom into the First Crusade, crisis is without a doubt my favourite part of Model UN.
It’s an odd moment when you get to put your dissertation subject on as a crisis topic, but it also means that I’m incredibly excited for what I’m sure will be a fantastic conference and I’m looking forward to meeting all of you in December!
