The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO)
What Is it?NATO is a political and military alliance that brings together 28 countries in Europe and North America to achieve its core tasks; collective defense, crisis management, and cooperative security, as manifested in the Washington Treaty. A 'NATO decision' is always considered to be an expression by all members of the alliance as it is reached upon by consensus.
NATO promotes democratic values through cooperation and consultation, and is committed to using military means where diplomacy has failed. |
