Professor Sir Adam Roberts, University of Oxford
Picture
This year, the Secretariat is delighted to announce Professor Sir Adam Roberts as the Guest Speaker for the ReadiMUN16 Opening Ceremony. On the 25th November, Sir Roberts will be joining all our diplomats in training to give a talk on “The UN: An Organization for Selective Security”.

Sir Roberts is a Senior Research Fellow of the Department of Politics and International Relations at the Centre for International Studies at Oxford University. He is also an Emeritus Fellow of Balliol College, as well as Emeritus Professor of International Relations at Oxford University.

He is also the former president of the British Academy (2009-13); an Honorary Fellow of the London School of Economics, University of Cumbria, and St. Anthony’s College Oxford; and a recipient of Honorary Doctorate awards from Kings College University, Bath University, Aberdeen University, and American Academy of Arts and Sciences. His main research interests are in the fields of International Organizations, International Security, International Law (Laws of war), Strategic Studies, Theories of International Relations, and civil resistance against authoritative regimes and foreign rule.

Sir Roberts is one of the most respected authorities by the UN due to his fields of expertise and previous work with the UN itself. We thus look forward to having him provide delegates with first-hand insights on the work of the organization, and on the specific topics to be debated at the conference.
