KU Leuven MUN (KULMUN)
The KULMUN Student Association can proudly announce that its yearly MUN Conference will indeed return for an 9th edition in 2019. KULMUN 2019 is set to take place from March 5 to 9 in the city of Leuven, Belgium. A MUN or Model United Nations Conference is an educational activity in which organs of the United Nations but also other international organisations are simulated. In a simulation, the participants, or delegates, each represent a country whose policy and interests they aim to defend during negotiations concerning an international issue. The topics debated are usually present-day topics, such as the situation in Syria or the state of the European economy.
Simulations of this kind are held throughout the world, therefore KULMUN is very proud to be the host of its own conference and that already for more than 7 years. While our first conference in 2011 solely accommodated around 50 Belgian MUN enthuasiasts it has grown into a five day lasting one which hosted over 150 delegates from more than 28 countries in 2018.
We are very much looking forward to welcome you to Leuven for a sure to be memorable week!
Cardiff University International Model United Nations
To our wonderful Delegates, Chairs, and Directors, it is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that we welcome you to the 4th edition of Cardiff University International Model United Nations Conference.
Franklin D. Roosevelt once said: “The point in history at which we stand is full of promise and danger. The world will either move forward toward unity and widely shared prosperity - or it will move apart.”
They say history repeats itself. In today's international climate Roosevelt's words echo stronger than ever. 2016 and 2017 has introduced us to various new phenomenons such as fake news, alternative facts, and new faces of power. Yet, alongside the new, walks the ongoing issues of intolerance, refugee crises, conflicts, climate change, etcetera. In a world where Presidents back out of deals, news outlets are accused of bias, countries boycott each other and terrorism keeps changing its face, does globalisation and peaceful co-existence face a risk of becoming a thing of the past?
This year, with the theme of ‘Pragmatism in the Era of Alternative Diplomacy’, CardiffMUN invites delegates from around the world to engage, discuss, and debate the most pressing issues of our times. It's time to step into the shoes of world leaders and put on our thinking hats.
South-West Model United Nations
We are very excited to announce that the fourth South-West Model United Nations Conference will be taking place in Bath, coming full circle! We are a collaboration between the University of Bristol Model United Nations, the University of Exeter Model United Nations and the Bath University Model United Nations societies. We are aiming to bring you the biggest and most exciting conference in the South-West this year, so we hope you enjoy and join us for an unforgettable weekend.
We're looking to build upon the successes of the past years and host the largest-ever SWMUN. We're planning an action-packed weekend of kicking off with a black-tie formal on Friday through to engaging and challenging debates on Saturday and Sunday.
This year has seen the global political agenda take on divisive topics and has set many historical "firsts" in international relations. In this time of political change and unprecedented political and social disruption, we hope this conference can be a platform where the leaders of tomorrow can challenge and be challenged with the real problems faced by our societies. We are confident that the resolutions that will be presented by the committees and delegates will be innovative and comprehensive, reaffirming the role that the UN has to play on the global political stage.
The University of Bath is thrilled to host the conference this year and is eager to build on the success of the conference hosted at the University of Bristol last year and continue the legacy by passing the torch on to the University of Exeter. As a world heritage site let the charm of Bath accompany you on this weekend of debating and chairing, offering a unique mix of contemporary fun and possibilities with all the historic grandeur of this Roman-founded city.
We hope you enjoy the conference, and make the most out of an exciting opportunity here in Bath!
The SheffMUN VII Secretariat would like to warmly welcome you to the seventh edition of our conference.
Between the 30th of November and the 2nd of December 2018, we will challenge in productive debates the topic of A Pathway to 2030. Building on previous editions of Sheffield Model United Nations, this conference will attempt to touch upon the fundamental objectives of the SDGs, and the way they can be achieved, through collaboration between nations.
We look forward to seeing you in November.
Commonly known as KentMUN, we are an international Model United Nations conference organised by the students of the University of Kent. Founded in 2018 by the Kent Model United Nations, we are now at our first conference which will take place from the 25th to the 27th of January, 2019, and are already drawing delegates from across the world.
We are very glad to announce that WarMUN, Warwick University’s very own MUN conference, will run for the eleventh year! WarMUN 2018 will take place from the 16th to the 18th of February 2018, on the premises of Warwick University.
Being the first crisis-exclusive conference in the UK, WarMUN is open to passionate MUNers regardless of prior crisis experience. This year's conference will have two branches revolving around the general theme of 'Sovereignty vs Self-Determination': a hybrid Security Council on the Kashmir conflict, as well as the four-cabinet crisis 'Alternate History: Axis Victory'.
The former is ideal for Crisis beginners, as it is resolution-based and incorporates Crisis elements. The latter takes place in a world dominated by Imperial Japan and the German Reich after their victory in WW2; the perfect challenge for experienced delegates, who can be part of the Japanese, German, United States, or Pacific States cabinet and help shape the modern world in this alternate timeline.
