Meet the Secretariat
Secretary-General
Harvey Tynan |
Hello, I’m Harvey Tynan your Secretary General for ReadiMUN 2020. I am currently a second year student studying Politics and International Relations here at Reading University my interests particularly lying in geopolitics and conflict that arises from it as well as issues that lie closer to home.
Ever since I joined Reading University I have been a part of the Reading University Model United Nations society where I was quickly integrated into the very welcoming group we have, the general good feeling among the society motivating me to run - and be elected - as your Secretary General. Having attended both ReadiMUN and South-West MUN in the last year I’ve greatly enjoyed conferences as a delegate and can’t wait to experience organising my own conference. Outside of MUN I am a stand-up comedian, a hobby that has massively assisted my skills in articulating myself in debate and more widely in public speaking. I hope you enjoy ReadiMUN as much as I’ve enjoyed putting it together with my secretariat and I can’t wait to see you all! |
Undersecretary-General for Finance
Joseph O'Shea |
Hi, my name is Joe. I am the undersecretary-general for finances and will therefore be handling the finances, in the background, for ReadiMUN this year.
I am a third year BA History and Politics student here at the University of Reading. With regards to current international relations, I am fascinated with NATO and its affiliated nations outside the organisation's response and interaction with China, North Korea and Russia I have been a member of the Reading University Model United Nations Society for the previous two years of my study here in Reading, thoroughly enjoying every moment I have been a member of the society. Having attended ReadiMUN18, last year I was honoured to have been elected by my peers in the society as the Secretary-General of ReadiMUN19, a role that brough me only joy…and restless nights. Having truly enjoyed the experience of organising ReadiMUN19, I look forward to aiding Harvey in his endeavour to make the best conference possible for you. I hope you enjoy ReadiMUN 2020 as much as I enjoyed ReadiMUN 2019 and 2018. I look forward to seeing each and every one of you there! |
Undersecretary for Delegate Assistance
Stephen McMullen |
Hello, my name is Stephen. I am the Secretary for Delegate Assistance for ReadiMUN this year. I am going into second year studying BA War, Peace and International Relations. I joined the Reading University Model United Nations Society last year, it was great taking part and getting to know people through it. I keenly follow events in global affairs, for instance researching conflict regions in the Middle East and Africa and international responses to events in these regions- such as the role of Russia and other foreign powers in events in the Syrian Civil War. As Secretary for Delegate Assistance, I will make sure that all delegates are able to have the best experience possible at the conference. I very much enjoyed ReadiMUN 2019 and I’m sure that ReadiMUN 2020 will live up to all expectations.
